Hello everyone,
My name is Shane Lunneborg and I am co-hosting an event with a long time friend Andrew Yazwa at Kokopelli Golf Course Sunday, November 10th (Veteran's Day Weekend). Below you will find information specific to the event, and a little background about ourselves.
Background:
Andrew Yazwa (Army Medic) and myself (Army Paralegal) are set to run in the P.F. Chang's Marathon and Half Marathon January 19th. In an effort to run for a cause greater than ourselves, we focused in on the Wounded Warrior Project and decided to become sponsored athletes. Together, we formed a team and link through their website,
https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/group-fundraising/WWPTEAMARIZONA. We have established a lofty goal of $10k for our team and are determined to meet that goal with assistance from the community.
A little over a month ago Andrew and I approached Kokopelli Golf Course with our intention to hold an event at their location and were met with open arms. Their beautiful course and GPS installed carts will contribute to excellent playing conditions that weekend. We have also been informed this should be the first weekend carts are allowed on the fairways, so the course should be in pristine condition.
Entry Fee: (Includes green fees, range balls, catered BBQ lunch, and $10 golfsmith cash card)
- Prior to October 1, registration and payment: $80 per player
- After October 1: $85 per player
This event will include hole contests, raffle, and silent auction events. We have been hitting the streets hard and the Arizona business community has responded graciously. Below includes a current list of businesses who have made verbal or written commitments to donate to the event.
- iPic Theaters
- Maya Day and Nightclub
- Golfsmith
- Vans Golf Shop in Mesa
- The Phoenix Suns
- Freddy's Steakburgers
- Buffalo Wild Wings
- Famous Dave's BBQ
We are currently in talks with other golf related organizations, sports organizations and local businesses to increase the prize pool.
Good luck to everyone!
