Las Sendas Golf Club is pleased to announce two new additions to the Las Sendas team, Jeff Sorkness and Mike Malaska.

Jeff Sorkness has taken the position of PGA Director of Golf for Las Sendas Golf Club. Jeff comes from the Talking Stick Resort where he held the same position for the past 11 years. Jeff has worked for Troon Golf for the past 18 years in both Colorado and Arizona. Jeff’s past experience, management, communications and organizational skills will be an asset in his new position. Las Sendas Golf Club was named “Best Golf Course 2013” ! This recognition was voted on by the residents of the East Valley and issued by The East Valley Tribune!

Mike Malaska has joined the club as Director of Instruction. Mike’s philosophy and knowledge of the golf swing, as well as his expertise at incorporating physical fitness programs into his golf instruction, has made him one of the most sought after instructors in the game today. He will lead the Las Sendas Golf Academy current staff of PGA and LPGA instructors by developing programs for all levels of golfer.
Mike’s career has spanned over 38 years of instruction and playing experience and has received the highest honor of “PGA National Teacher of The Year” in 2011. Most recently, he has been awarded a spot on the “2013 Edwin Watts Golf Top Teacher’s in America” list, and on the “2012 GRAA Top 50 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional.” Mike was also named “2011 Senior Player of the Year” and “2010 Teacher of the Year” for the PGA Southwest Section. Since 2000, Mike has ranked among Golf Digest's "America's 50 Greatest Teachers," and currently is listed as #24 in the nation. Mike has also been selected as one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers” in America since 1995.

Mike is currently the Director of Instruction for Nicklaus Academies Worldwide and instructs the teachers at each of the centers around the globe. Mike has also served as a consultant to TaylorMade/Adidas worldwide since 2002. He has appeared numerous times on The Golf Channel as a guest instructor and in 2004, Mike produced his own DVD, You Are Your Own Swing, featuring 2 ½ hours of golf and fitness instruction.

Mike’s incredible desire to understand and perfect the golf game has made him an outstanding player as well as an instructor. Mike has competed in a number of PGA and Champions Tour events, including the 1988, 2009, and 2010 PGA Championships. He also played the Asian Golf Tour for 2 years and competed in the 1982 and 1986 U.S. Opens.

Malaska’s philosophy is simple…. “There is no individual that is willing to practice, no matter what their physical limitations are, that I cannot teach to achieve their highest potential in the game of golf.”

“We are very excited to have Mike and Jeff join our team at Las Sendas and create one of the best golf experiences in the Valley” says Lloyd McBean, Executive Director and Managing Partner of Las Sendas Golf Club. “Mike & Jeff’s vast experience, philosophies and tactics fit very well into the directions where we are taking our Club and we are proud to have them on board”.

taylormade sldr driver Hybrid clubs have design advantages over fairway woods. They can be played using the same ball position as traditional irons. As a result, you should use the same length, shaft flex and swingweight as your irons.
